Boston Celtics Complete Trade With Dallas Mavericks

BOSTON – The Boston Celtics announced today that they have acquired guard Jameer Nelson, forward Jae Crowder, forward/center Brandan Wright, a conditional first round draft pick, a 2016 second round draft pick and a $12.9 million trade exception from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for guard Rajon Rondo and forward Dwight Powell.

In a related move, the Celtics have waived center Vitor Faverani.

“We would like to thank Rajon for everything that he has done for the Celtics organization and the success we have experienced during his tenure with us,” said Danny Ainge, Celtics President of Basketball Operations.

“We would not have won Banner 17 without Rajon and will always consider him one of our most valuable Celtics, both on the court and in the community working with kids. We will always cherish the time he was here,” said Celtics Managing Partners Wyc Grousbeck, Irv Grousbeck, Steve Pagliuca and Robert Epstein.

Nelson, a 6’0” guard, has appeared in 23 contests for the Mavericks this season and is averaging 7.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 25.4 minutes per game over that span. He recorded a season-high 18 points at Memphis on December 9, which included a season-high four three-pointers. Additionally, Nelson has had eight games this season with 10 or more points and nine games with five or more assists. He was selected as a 2009 NBA All-Star and is averaging 12.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists in 29.1 minutes per game on his career.

Crowder, a 6’6” forward, has appeared in 25 games this season for the Mavericks and is averaging 3.6 points on .434 shooting from the field and 1.2 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per game. He scored a season-high 15 points in 12 minutes against Miami on November 9. Crowder was the 34th overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers and is averaging 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 15.9 minutes per game on his career.

Wright, a 6’10” forward/center, has appeared in 27 contests for the Mavericks this season and is averaging 8.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 18.7 minutes per game. Wright has recorded 10 or more points in 12 games this season, including a season-high 14 points four times and is shooting 74.8 percent from the field this year. On his career, he has appeared in 312 NBA games and is averaging 7.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.0 block per game.
