The biggest news over the last several days comes from Philadelphia, where the 76ers have re-signed >guard Andre Iguodala. Meanwhile, the Clippers continue their busy offseason re-signing Paul Davis and the Lakers have added Josh Powell to the mix. Other signing included Louis Amundson with the Suns, Francisco Elson with the Bucks and Flip Murray with the Hawks.

July 31, 2008
The Bobcats showed their commitment to building a winning franchise as they secured Emeka Okafor to a long-term deal. The 6-10 forward/center is one of only four NBA players to average a double-double in each of the last four seasons, along with Tim Duncan, Dwight Howard and Steve Nash. Luol Deng is also off the market after re-signing a long term deal with the Chicago Bulls. The Los Angeles Clippers also continued to build their roster, signing Brian Skinner.
July 30, 2008
Atlanta has added to their roster, signing guard/forward Maurice Evans and Randolph Morris while the Philadelphia 76ers have inked guard Kareem Rush to a deal.
July 29, 2008
There has been a flurry of activity on the free agent front in the last couple of days. The last member of our top-ten unrestricted free agents, Ricky Davis, made a commitment, signing a multi-year deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Golden State Warriors also kept busy multiple years. Keeping it in California, the Los Angeles Lakers re-signed guard Sasha Vujacic. In other moves, the 76ers signed guard Royal Ivey, the Jazz retained C.J. Miles after matching an offer sheet made by Oklahoma City and the Timberwolves re-signed Ryan Gomes.
July 25, 2008
Ryan Hollins remained a member of the Bobcats family as Charlotte signed the 7-0 center to a contract. Meanwhile, the Warriors kept two significant pieces of their roster as they re-signed guard Monta Ellis to a multi-year deal and matched the Clippers offer to Kelenna Azubuike. The Nuggets added to their frontcourt signing Chris Andersen to a contract.
July 24, 2008
The most significant news regarding free agents didn't involve a player signing with an NBA team, but rather with a team overseas as Josh Childress decided to leave Atlanta to play for Olympiakos in Greece. In other news, the New Orleans Hornets beefed up their roster by officially adding James Posey to the mix. While Boston lost Posey, they did retain the services of two members of its 2008 Championship team by re-signing guards Eddie House and Tony Allen. Minnesota meanwhile has re-signed Sebastian Telfair.
July 23, 2008
On the free agent front, the San Antonio Spurs have re-signed veteran big man Kurt Thomas while Phoenix has added Matt Barnes to their roster.
July 21, 2008
Ronny Turiaf is now officially a member of the Golden State Warriors after the Lakers declined to match Warriors offer to the three-year NBA veteran. Meanwhile, the other team in L.A. - the Clippers - have signed Kelenna Azubuike, who spent the last two seasons in Golden State, to an offer sheet.
July 18, 2008
The biggest news on the free agent front in the last several days has involved one of our top-ten unrestricted free agents James Posey. Posey, a nine-year NBA veteran who helped Boston capture the 2008 NBA Championship, has reportedly agreed to a multi-year deal with the New Orleans Hornets. Posey averaged 7.4 points and 4.4 rebounds last season.
The Milwaukee Bucks added two veterans to their roster, signing guard Tyronn Lue and forward Malik Allen. Meanwhile, the Celtics have signed center Patrick O'Bryant and the Magic have added Anthony Johnson.
July 13, 2008
Over the weekend, our top unrestricted free agent, Gilbert Arenas, officially signed a long-term contract to remain a member of the Washington Wizards. In other news, the San Antonio Spurs signed Roger Mason Jr. while the New Jersey Nets added Eduardo Najera and Jarvis Hayes to their roster.
July 11, 2008
After signing Diop and Barea on Wednesday, the Mavericks locked up another player, inking Antoine Wright on Friday. Wright was originally acquired by the Mavericks from New Jersey as part of the deal that brought Jason Kidd to Dallas.
The Houston Rockets added another veteran presence signing 14-year veteran sharpshooter Brent Barry. Brent Barry is the third member of his family to play for the Rockets as both his father, Rick, and his brother, Jon, spent time in Houston during their NBA careers.
July 10, 2008
Three more of our top-10 unrestricted free agents finalized agreements today. As reported, Baron Davis officially became a member of the L.A. Clippers by signing a long-term contract. Meanwhile, the Warriors added Corey Maggette to their roster and the Magic inked Mickael Pietrus.
In addition to signing Maggette, the Warriors also made a move to acquire three-year NBA veteran Ronny Turiaf. Golden State signed the restricted free agent to an offer sheet. The Lakers now have seven days to match the Warriors offer.
July 9, 2008
The day ended on a busy note with more players officially signing contracts. Philadelphia immediately became a serious contender in the Eastern Conference, signing Elton Brand to a long-term deal. Sacramento re-signed Beno Udrih while Jose Calderon remained a Raptor. Dallas also locked up two players, signing DeSagana Diop and re-signing Jose Barea
This afternoon, several deals were finalized. As reported, Chris Duhon signed with the New York Knicks. The Heat also added to their roster, signing James Jones, a 6-8 forward who spent last season playing for Portland.
The free agency moratorium ended at midnight meaning teams are able to now officially ink the free agents they have been courting over the past week and a half. In the last 24 hours, there has been a lot of activity on the free agent front with several big names verbally agreeing to deals.
It appears as though Elton Brand is on his way out of L.A., having reportedly agreed to a five-year deal $82 million-dollar deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. To be able to create cap space to sign Brand, the 76ers will reportedly trade Rodney Carney, Calvin Booth and a future first-round pick to the Minnesota Timberwolves for a future second-round selection.
In other news, it appears as though Brand's former teammates with the Clippers, Corey Maggette, has decided to remain on the West Coast after entertaining offers from numerous suitors. Maggette won't be playing in L.A., but a few hours north by agreeing to a five-year $50 million-dollar deal with the Golden State Warriors.
Signing Maggette is a boost for the Warriors, who have not only lost Baron Davis from their roster, but also guard Mickael Pietrus. According to Florida Today, Pietrus has verbally committed to a four-year $25.1 million dollar deal with the Orlando Magic.
July 7, 2008
The 4th of July weekend has finally come to a close, but that doesn't mean there were many fireworks in NBA free agency talks over the last few days. Only two free agents of note have reportedly agreed to contracts since we last updated you.
The first was our top unrestricted free agent of the offseason - Gilbert Arenas. Agent Zero is off the market after reportedly having agreed to a six-year $111 million-dollar deal with the Washington Wizards. Arenas actually took less money than was offered to him in the hopes of giving the Wizards some room to sign other players over the course of his contract.
The second agreement of note comes from an unrestricted free agent who didn't crack our Top 10 - Chris Duhon. The New York Knicks have apparently come to terms with Duhon on a two-year deal worth approximately $12 million to take over the point in The Big Apple.
With the moratorium scheduled to be lifted on Wednesday, will we see in influx of agreements the next two days? We'll see. Who are the biggest remaining names to watch for? Elton Brand is still mulling offers from the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors, and it looks as if the Philadelphia 76ers might try to get in the mix. Meanwhile, at least a quarter of the league appears to have interest in Corey Maggette and James Posey, so it will be interesting to see where they end up.
July 2, 2008
Today was a relatively slow day on the free agent front, with only one verbal agreement of note reported. According to ESPN, veteran center DeSagana Diop is on his way back to the Dallas Mavericks after the two agreed to a verbal commitment. Diop was traded to New Jersey in February as part of the Jason Kidd deal after spending two-and-a-half seasons in Dallas.
July 1, 2008
The 2008 NBA free agent season officially kicked off today, with teams able to begin talking to free agents and receive verbal commitments. However, nothing can be officially announced until the NBA's moratorium is lifted on July 9. Still, that hasn't kept the first few hours of free agency of moving fast and furious, and we're keeping you up to date here on bobcats.com.
The Washington Wizards got things started early, signing Antawn Jamison to a multi-year extension (which did not go against the moratorium) and locking up the first of their two big-name guys. Is Gilbert Arenas up next? The Wizards are reportedly in talks with Agent Zero to sign him to a max deal. But he's not Arenas' only suitor. The Golden State Warriors would like to bring Arenas back to the team he started his career with in 2001 and are reportedly ready to offer him the max as well.
Expect the Warriors to push even harder for Arenas now that guard Baron Davis is reported to have verbally agreed to sign a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers on July 9. That leads us to the question of what will happen with the Clippers two unrestricted free agents - Elton Brand and Corey Maggette. It's reported that they would like to re-sign Brand, but chances are they won't be able to bring Maggette back if both Davis and Brand are on board. We'll see.
But Davis isn't the only one who has agreed to a verbal commitment. Beno Udrih is reportedly on his way back to the Sacramento Kings, while Jose Calderon became the first of our Top 10 restricted free agents to agree to a deal when he reported on his Website that he'd agreed to a new deal with the Toronto Raptors.
As for the Bobcats free agents - Emeka Okafor ranks as our No. 1 restricted free agent, and Charlotte General Manager Rod Higgins announced today that the Bobcats have extended qualifying offers to Okafor and Ryan Hollins (also a restricted free agent) and picked up the 2008-09 team option on the contract of Jermareo Davidson.
Keep checking back to bobcats.com as we'll continue to update you as news rolls in.

Jair:
No doubt we sign Okafor, but the addition of either; DeSagana Diop, Andris Biedrins, Nenad Krstic, or maybe even Stromile Swift wont be bad. and remember Robert Swift might be an interesting free agent for us, if the Sonics let him go.
jsoulwestjkh:
If Charlotte doesnt sign Emeka Okafor, would Elton Brand, Nenad Krstic, Andris Biedrins, or Robert Horry be a good player to sign in Emeka's place?
David:
I think that Charlotte should go after a guard like Jannero Pargo to bring some stabillity to the point guard position since he is an unrestricted free agent that can shoot, distribute, and defend
Cutt
I think we should make a offer to Emeka Okafor, and former Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith. I think that will give us a real boost defensively. And that will give us a real boost in athletics. Let go of Nazr and keep Ryan and get younger.
Official Bobcats Fanclub:
Hello there, my bobcats fanclub has simulated the best free agent fit for our team. And out of the remainder of the players, these three were ideal to our team:
PG)Carlos Arroyo, SF/PF)Bostjan Nachbar, C)David Harrison. We also evaluated the perfect steal for the offseason, we've recieved news that the Knicks are looking at selling David Lee. Adding Lee would be essential to our front court. And maybe after these aquisations Emeka will sign back with our team. Please do not sign: Derek Anderson, Ryan Hollins, Othella Harrington, Earl Boykins, and the draft pick Kyle Weaver. Larry Brown likes vets, so lets give him a better four than what we have right now.
We hope you at least look at what are entire member force has worked on throughout the entire offseason so far. Thank you.
